91´«Ã½ releases American Rescue Plan state funding resource for libraries

91´«Ã½ has published a that details how libraries of all types can best obtain a portion of the state-allocated funding outlined in the American Rescue Plan Act. Passed by Congress on March 10, 2021, the $1.9 trillion  includes $200 million for the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), along with billions of dollars in school, academic, and public library-eligible programs. The time is now for libraries to position themselves to seek portions of this funding through multiple channels, and this resource hosts a collection of useful tools and guidance for libraries to advocate for ARPA funding.

The presents information on the relief provisions important to libraries included in the final bill, along with helpful links, template letters for libraries to customize to their designated officials, and contact information for additional state and local guidance. Librarians and library workers are encouraged to keep the page bookmarked, as the resource will be continuously updated as more information is released.

“Libraries of all sizes have experienced tremendous turmoil during the COVID-19 pandemic, all while continuing to serve as a source of stability for our communities” said Kathi Kromer, 91´«Ã½’s associate executive director for Public Policy and Advocacy. “The state relief funding allocated to libraries through the American Rescue Plan is unparalleled, and in hopes of expediting the process of getting this relief funding distributed to libraries in order to maintain and enhance library services in this time of recovery.”
