The Intellectual Freedom Round Table (IFRT) is offering free memberships for students. Beginning March 15, 2021, to receive a free membership to IFRT. Up to 200 current 91´«Ã½ student members and up to 25 students who are not 91´«Ã½ members will be given a free membership on a first-come, first-served basis. (If the student is not an 91´«Ã½ member, they will receive a free 91´«Ã½ student membership or joint membership.) IFRT enthusiastically welcomes BIPOC students to the Round Table and encourages them to take advantage of this membership offer. The goal of this initiative is to increase short and long-term membership to IFRT. The membership dues are being paid for by the IFRT.

Intellectual freedom is the heart of our work. As library professionals, we resist censorship and support the right of every individual to both seek and receive information from all points of view without restriction. The Intellectual Freedom Roundtable (IFRT) is a valued resource for all library professionals throughout their careers, providing venues to discuss and debate topical issues and supporting those involved with censorship issues. We also know that during this pandemic, resources are stretched thin. To demonstrate our value to you, we are offering free IFRT membership for library students. We are positive that if you become an IFRT member while in library school, you will see the value of this roundtable and become a lifelong member.

The Intellectual Freedom Round Table (IFRT) provides a forum for the discussion of activities, programs and problems in intellectual freedom of libraries and librarians; serves as a channel of communications on intellectual freedom matters; promotes a greater opportunity for involvement among the members of the 91´«Ã½ in defense of intellectual freedom; promotes a greater feeling of responsibility in the implementation of 91´«Ã½ policies on intellectual freedom.
