91´«Ã½
CHICAGO – New research published in the American Association of School Librarians’ (AASL) peer-reviewed online journal, School Library Research (SLR), explores the collaboration between public libraries and schools in Hong Kong from the perspective of school librarians. SLR promotes and publishes high-quality original research concerning the management, implementation, and evaluation of school libraries. Articles can be accessed for free at .
The goal of the research team consisting of Lok-Man Leung and Dickson Chiu, both from the University of Hong Kong, and Patrick Lo from the University of Tsukuba was to fill the gap in research on public library and school library collaboration in Asian countries especially in a large metropolis like Hong Kong. They detail their findings in “School Librarians’ View of Cooperation with Public Libraries: A Win-Win Situation in Hong Kong.”
For their study, the team interviewed three school librarians and thematically analyzed responses. The researchers found collaboration between public libraries was well received and supported by principals. School librarians considered inter-lending and access to electronic resources to be collaborative benefits. The team also found school librarians were committed to promoting public library services through educational activities with teachers and students.
(ISSN: 2165-1019) is the successor to School Library Media Research (ISSN: 1523-4320) and School Library Media Quarterly Online. The journal is peer-reviewed, indexed by H. W.
