LLAMA webinar: "Soliciting Feedback -- Up, down, and sideways"
91´«Ã½
All too often professional development related to feedback focuses on how we give feedback as managers, and less often about how we solicit feedback to improve our own performance, and perhaps more importantly, how we respond and take action based on what we've heard. The Library Leadership and Management Association will present, "Soliciting Feedback: Up, down, and sideways," on Wednesday, August 12, from 1:30-3:00 pm, Central Time.
In this webinar, the presenters will share their experiences soliciting feedback from their direct reports, colleagues, and supervisors to improve their performance as managers and leaders.
The presenters will demonstrate conversations that illustrate how to provide the best environment for soliciting feedback, examples of specific questions to ask, and responses to feedback.
Participants will learn:
- how to prepare to effectively solicit both personal and project-based feedback.
- how to construct targeted but open-ended questions to solicit feedback in order to best enable the direct report/colleague/supervisor to provide constructive and concrete feedback.
- what some common negative responses to feedback (defense, ignorance of facts, and denial) are in order to preempt or push through those reflexes to maintain a constructive conversation.
- how to discern what pieces of feedback are actionable, in order to determine the next steps to take to demonstrate progress with addressing that feedback.
The primary audience of this webinar is any manager or team leader interested in improving their skill-set as leaders. Both those who are new to management and those farther along in their careers will benefit from considering how to solicit feedback from their direct reports, colleagues, and supervisors.
