Due to the continuing concerns of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) has announced that the will be held virtually, in lieu of the originally planned in-person event in Minneapolis, MN, October 1-3, 2020.
“While we are disappointed we will not be able to convene in person, our primary concern remains the health and safety of our members and attendees,” said ALSC President Cecilia McGowan. “This transition to a Virtual Institute not only allows ALSC to put forth much of the already-planned quality programming National Institute is known for, but also allows us to create new opportunities for equity and inclusion for librarians who may have been precluded from attending an in-person gathering.”
The virtual event will feature a variety of key author and illustrator panels, programs, trainings, and virtual networking opportunities. The National Institute Task Force is working closely with ALSC staff to transition to a virtual platform.
More information regarding registration, schedules, and specific panels and programs will be available in the coming weeks.
The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) is driven by more than 4,000 members dedicated to the support and enrichment of library service to children. Our members include youth librarians, literature experts, publishers and educational faculty. ALSC supports its members in engaging communities to build healthy, successful futures for all children.
