CHICAGO – The American Association of School Librarians (AASL) invites school library professionals to help plan programming for the 2021 AASL National Conference. Professionals are asked to submit topics needed for professional development during the conference, taking place in October 2021 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Learning at the conference will be organized around the Shared Foundations of the National School Library Standards for Learners, School Librarians, and School Libraries and topics can be shared in these categories at .

Programming is among the top reasons registrants attend national conference. Crowdsourcing topics of need will help volunteer committee members make decisions on conference programming including preconferences, concurrent sessions, and keynotes. All programming will reflect the  of the AASL Standards: Inquire, Include, Collaborate, Curate, Explore, and Engage.

“Crowd-sourcing topics helps school librarians work effectively to broaden their perspectives on emerging trends in the profession,” said AASL President Mary Keeling. “As we collaborate to develop a focus for AASL’s 2021 National Conference, we engage the active participation of all school librarians to create and maintain an environment in which we develop our capacity to transform teaching and learning.”

Crowdsourcing will close at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, May 1, 2020.

The AASL National Conference, , is the only national conference dedicated solely to the needs of school librarians and their roles as educational leaders. The 2021 conference will take place October 21-23 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Those communicating about the national conference are encouraged to use the official hashtag, #AASL21.
