CHICAGO — The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) has awarded Angela Leeper, Director of the Curriculum Materials Center at the University of Richmond in Virginia, its .

The stipend will provide up to $1,000 in travel funds for Leeper to attend for the first time. NLLD will take place May 4-5 in Washington D.C.

“As I help to support future educators in my role at the University of Richmond, I see the interconnectedness among libraries, education, and literacy on a daily basis. With the White House’s proposal to eliminate the Institute of Museum and Library Services and decrease funding for library-eligible education programs, it’s never been more vital to fight for libraries,” said Leeper. “I’m thrilled and honored to have this opportunity to learn more about legislative priorities for libraries and then use that knowledge to represent my fellow colleagues and advocate for library users across the country.”
