Kelsey Flynn named a 2020 LITA Emerging Leader

91´«Ã½

The Library and Information Technology Association is proud to announce that Kelsey Flynn has been selected as a 2020 LITA Emerging Leader.

Flynn works in the Adult Services departments at two public libraries in the southwest suburbs of Chicago: the White Oak Library District and the Joliet Library. She is also attending San Jose State University online for her Masters in Library & Information Science.

"A couple of years ago I became interested in library technology that can help patrons with visual disabilities. Since then, I was fortunate enough to give lectures at the LITA forum, 91´«Ã½ annual, and a number of state library association's conferences. My hope is that one day, every library will be able to provide accommodations to people with print disabilities, specifically in the form of screen readers. I decided to apply for the Emerging Leaders program, to connect with people who want to better themselves, their community, as well as our profession. I hope to learn from those in the program to make myself a better leader and team member," said Flynn.

enables newer library workers to participate in problem-solving work groups, network with peers, gain an inside look into 91´«Ã½ structure, and have an opportunity to serve the profession in a leadership capacity. Following a kickoff session that includes orientation and training, the program will continue in an online learning and networking environment for six months, culminating in a presentation of the groups' work at the 2020 91´«Ã½ Annual Conference. LITA is sponsoring two Emerging Leaders for 2020 thanks to donations from LITA members and supporters.
