Hood selected as new 2020 YALS editor

CHICAGO — The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) has selected Yolanda Hood, the Carol J. McMurry Distinguished Librarian for Academic Excellence at the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyoming, as the new editor of its quarterly, digital journal, .

Hood has worked in libraries for over 14 years where her positions have involved working closely with teens and those that provide library services for teens. She is the co-creator, along with Kristine Shrauger, of the , which was created with two Carnegie Whitney grants from the 91´«Ã½.

“I am so excited for this opportunity to work as the YALS member editor,” said Hood. “I have read YALS for 12 years and have learned so much as a result. I look forward to working with all of those who serve teens, in every capacity, to continue to make this journal an amazing resource.”

Hood will work with the Editorial Advisory Board to set the tone and direction of the journal, as well as solicit and determine content. Hood will serve a one-year term now through December 1, 2020.
