PLA announces changes to Board of Directors

Salazar begins one-year term as PLA president, Jeske as president-elect
CHICAGO – The Public Library Association's (PLA) Board meeting on June 22 officially marked the end of the 2018-2019 service year, which brought several important changes to the composition of the PLA Board of Directors.
Richard Kong of Skokie (Ill.) Public Library, Pam Sandlian Smith of Anythink Libraries (Adams County, Colo.), and Tracy Strobel of Cuyahoga County (Ohio) Public Library each ended a three-year term. However, Smith will remain on the Board until June 2020 to fill the one‐year vacancy resulting from the transition of Michelle Jeske (Denver Public Library) from director-at-large to president-elect.
Ramiro S. Salazar of San Antonio (Texas) Public Library began a one-year term as PLA president and Monique le Conge Ziesenhenne, PhD, of Palo Alto (Calif.) City Library assumed the role of immediate past-president. Newly elected directors-at-large Toby Greenwalt of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh (Penn.) and Amita Lonial of the Tacoma (Wash.) Public Library each began a three-year term ending in 2022.
Per the , an eleventh position, of fiscal officer, was added to the board of directors. In her capacity as immediate past-president, Pam Sandlian Smith appointed Clara Nalli Bohrer of West Bloomfield Township (Mich.) Public Library to this seat. Bohrer will serve a three-year term as ending in 2022. As fiscal officer she will also serve as chair of the and liaison to the 91´«Ã½ .
