Preconferences at AASL National Conference dive into new AASL Standards-related publications

CHICAGO – Even before the 2019 AASL National Conference officially kicks off, attendees can delve into AASL Standards-related topics at preconferences presented by the authors of forthcoming publications. Half-day workshops will be held Wed., Nov 13, and two-hour workshops will be offered Thurs., Nov. 14. Full preconference descriptions, presenters, and registration rates can be found at .

Half-day preconference options on Wed., Nov 13 include:

  • Leadership: Strategic Thinking, Decision Making, Communication, and Relationship Building presented by Ann M. Martin and Kathleen Riopelle Roberts
  • Shared Foundations: Collaborate presented by Mary Catherine Coleman
  • Shared Foundations: Inquire presented by Lori Donovan

Two-hour workshops on Thurs., Nov. 14 include:

  • An Introduction to Collection Development presented by Mona Kerby
  • Content-Area Collaborations for Secondary Grades presented by Liz Deskins
  • Lessons Inspired by Picture Books for Primary Grades presented by Maureen Schlosser and Rebecca Granatini

The books will be available for purchase on site, but are not required for workshop participation. Advance registration for workshops is recommended. On-site registration will be allowed pending availability.

The Educators of School Librarians Section (ESLS) of AASL will also present its sixth research symposium before the conference begins. The session description, learning objectives, and outcomes will be posted on the AASL website as information is finalized.
