EXTON, Pennsylvania — Gary Janetti will appear at United for Libraries’ The Laugh’s On Us sponsored by Ingram Content Group, featuring headlining standup comedian and author Paula Poundstone, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 23. Authors Josh Gondelman, Bobbie Brown, and Jessica Holmes will also appear.
(“,” Flatiron Books/Macmillan) is the writer and producer for some of the most popular television comedies of all time, and creator of one of the most wickedly funny accounts there is. He now turns his skills to the page in this hilarious, and poignant book chronicling the pains and indignities of everyday life.
He chronicles the torture of finding a job before the internet when you had to talk on the phone all the time, and fantasizes, as we all do, about who to tell off when he finally wins an Oscar. As Gary himself says, “These are essays from my childhood and young adulthood about things that still annoy me.”
(“,” Perennial/HarperCollins) is a comedian and writer for “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.” Josh has earned a Peabody Award, an Emmy, and a WGA Award for his work on “Last Week Tonight.” In the past, Josh has written for “Billy on the Street.” His writing has also appeared in New York Times, New York Magazine, and The New Yorker.
Bobbie Brown ("") is a Sunset Strip video vixen, Ex Wives of Rock TV star, and author of Dirty Rocker Boys. Her new book tackles beauty, dating, friendship, motherhood and sex for the single woman from the perspective of one who has seen and done it all — or so she thought. Her second book answers questions on what it means to be a bad-ass, independent woman on the dating scene today.
(“,” Page Two Books, Ingram) has opened for comedians like Jerry Seinfeld, Leslie Nielsen, and Ellen DeGeneres, as well as hosted events for such visionaries as Deepak Chopra, Tony Robbins, and Oprah Winfrey. A comedian at heart, she has performed with the Second City and Just for Laughs. Holmes wrote her first book, “I Love Your Laugh: Finding the Light in my Screwball Life,” in 2010.
Having fallen in love with public speaking, Holmes decided to deepen the scope of her material by becoming a Life & Career Coach through San Diego’s Life Purpose Institute. She now enjoys a mix of comedy and motivational speaking.
(“”) has been a stand-up comic for nearly 25 years. She was the first woman to perform standup comedy at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Paula voiced the character “Forgetter Paula” in Disney/Pixar’s Inside Out, winner of the 2017 Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film. Her book "The Totally Unscientific Study of the Search For Human Happiness" landed #1 on Amazon’s best sellers lists in Humor in Hardcover, Audible and CD within its first two weeks of release. Her long list of successes includes HBO specials, an Emmy Award, two Cable ACE Awards, and an America Comedy Award for Best Female Stand-Up. An outspoken advocate for libraries, she has been the national spokesperson for United for Libraries since 2008.
Wine and cheese will be served, and a book signing will follow. Advance tickets to “The Laugh’s On Us,” sponsored by Ingram Content Group, cost $60, $55 for United for Libraries personal members (event code UNI2). Onsite tickets (if available) cost $65.
