Author Ann Patchett to speak at 2019 PLA Member Welcome Breakfast

CHICAGO -- The New York Times bestselling author Ann Patchett will be the special guest speaker, courtesy of HarperCollins, at the Public Library Association's (PLA) at the in Washington, DC. PLA President Monique le Conge Ziesenhenne, PhD will host the Breakfast during which PLA will also recognize the recipients of its . The Breakfast will take place Saturday, June 22, 8:30 -10:00 a.m. Eastern, in Marquis Ballroom Salon 1-5 of the Marriott Marquis Washington DC Hotel. Attendance is reserved exclusively for PLA members and tickets (available free of charge to PLA personal members) are required.

is the author of seven novels, The Patron Saint of Liars, Taft, The Magician’s Assistant, Bel Canto, Run, State of Wonder, and Commonwealth. She was the editor of Best American Short Stories, 2006; and has written three books of nonfiction, Truth & Beauty, What now?, and, most recently, This is the Story of a Happy Marriage. She has won numerous prizes, including the PEN/Faulkner Award and the Orange Prize for Fiction, and her work has been translated into more than thirty languages. She was named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine. Patchett is the co-owner of Parnassus Books in Nashville, TN, where she lives with her husband, Karl VanDevender, and their dog, Sparky.
