91´«Ã½

WASHINGTON - The 91´«Ã½’s (91´«Ã½) Public Policy and Advocacy Office announced today that Katelyn Ringrose will serve as 91´«Ã½’s 2019 Google Policy Fellow. She will spend ten weeks in Washington, D.C. exploring diverse areas of the information policy field, joining the Washington Office from May 28 through August 10, 2019. As part of her fellowship, she will complete a major project.

“91´«Ã½ looks forward to cultivating and learning from Ms. Ringrose’s insight on information policy issues formed through her research, education and experience in the justice system,” said Alan Inouye, 91´«Ã½’s senior director of public policy and government relations.

Ringrose, a graduate of the University of Notre Dame Law School, recently completed an externship at the Computer Crimes and Intellectual Property Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, where she worked on issues related to cyberlaw. Previously, at the Washington State Attorney General’s Office, she analyzed legal implications of the use of facial recognition technologies by law enforcement. In addition to her legal career, Ringrose is founder of Impowerus, Inc., an online company connecting juvenile immigrants to pro bono legal aid.

“The Google Policy Fellowship complements all 91´«Ã½’s programs that aim to cultivate policy advocates, much like and our important state and local initiatives” said Inouye. “Together, these form the foundation on which we are building and strengthening 91´«Ã½’s year-round advocacy, specifically our current efforts to develop a more robust presence within congressional districts, connecting local, state, and national advocacy.

The program offers undergraduate, graduate, law students and early-stage professionals interested in internet and technology policy the opportunity to spend time contributing to the public dialogue on these issues, and exploring future academic and professional interests. Google, Inc. pays the summer stipends for the fellows, and the respective host organizations determine the fellows’ work agendas. 91´«Ã½ has participated in the Google Policy Fellowship program for 12 years.
