Barnhart elected YALSA 2020-2021 president

CHICAGO — Members of the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), a division of the 91´«Ã½ (91´«Ã½), Amanda Barnhart as the division’s next president-elect. Barnhart will begin her term as president-elect in June 2019, becoming president for one year starting June 2020.
Barnhart is currently a Branch Manager at the Kansas City Public Library - North-East Branch in Kansas City, MO.
“As a Latina, I am immensely thankful to the library leaders who supported me with safe, professional spaces and the educational opportunities that have shaped my journey,” said Barnhart. “I am honored to have been selected as YALSA’s President-Elect and am eager to begin my leadership term for an organization to which I owe so much. Thank you to all YALSA members who participated in the election process. And to all YALSA members, I value your voice and look forward to the great work ahead of us!”
In addition to a new president-elect, YALSA also elected Josie Watanabe as secretary; Jane Gov as fiscal officer; and Trixie Dantis, Karen Lemmons, Ryan Eduardo Moniz, Charli Osborne, and Valerie Tagoe as board of directors.
