CHICAGO — Today, the Public Library Association (PLA) announced it will host a series for library professionals on the topic of cultural intelligence. The term “cultural intelligence,” popularly abbreviated as CQ, refers to a person’s ability to function effectively across the boundaries that divide nations, ethnic groups and organizations.

The series will consist of two hour-long webinars in April, the first focused on building cultural intelligence skills and the second on applying them in libraries. After learning the core concepts and competencies in part one, participants will explore, in part two, how CQ can inform library policies, services and programs.
