COSWL Celebrates National Women’s History Month

During the entire month of March, the 91´«Ã½ will recognize and celebrate women’s historic achievements with National Women’s History Month. The Committee will host a webinar Monday, March 18th, 2:00 p.m. (EST) highlighting women’s history month and the . Be sure to now.

The webinar will be presented by Susan Scanlan, a member of the National Women’s History Museum Board. Susan was instrumental in the conception and passage of Women’s History Month through Congress and worked on the passage of Title IX. She also helped found the Congressional Caucus for Women's Issues and its policy arm, the Women’s Research & Education Institute (WREI). Susan will give a brief update on the Museum and will discuss a “history” of Women’s History Month.

According to a recently published report by the , women make up over 80 percent of the library profession. Over the years, the 91´«Ã½ women’s groups have helped to develop evaluative tools, guidelines and programs to enhance the opportunities and the image of women in the library profession.
