Terry Reese Jr. selected for Margaret Mann Citation

CHICAGO—The Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) announces that Terry Reese Jr. is the recipient of the 2019 Margaret Mann Citation presented by the . The Mann Citation will be presented on June 22 at the ALCTS Awards Ceremony during the 2019 91´«Ã½ (91´«Ã½) Annual Conference & Exhibition in Washington, D.C.

The Mann Citation, recognizing outstanding professional achievement in cataloging or classification, includes a $2,000 scholarship donated in the recipient’s honor by OCLC, Inc. to the library school of the winner’s choice. Reese has chosen the as the recipient of this year’s scholarship award.

Reese’s outstanding professional achievements in cataloging have had a lasting and positive impact on our national and international professional community. His most notable and well-known achievement leading the creation, development and on-going work of MarcEdit cannot be understated. MarcEdit is an invaluable tool used by a host of libraries and librarians, ranging from small public libraries to large academic research libraries. The development of MarcEdit has had a tremendous impact on bridging traditional and future cataloging practices such as MARC, XML, crosswalks and linked data.

Reese has made deep and sustained contributions to professional cataloging associations throughout his career. His record of excellent service includes the ALCTS Publishing Committee, the LITA Technical Editorial Review Editorial Committee, the Program for Cooperative Cataloging Task Group on URIs in MARC and the Program for Cooperative Cataloging Group on Linked Data Best Practices.

The is the national association for information providers who work in collections and technical services, such as acquisitions, cataloging, collection development, preservation and continuing resources in digital and print formats. ALCTS is a division of the 91´«Ã½.
