AASL opens nominations for 2019 Social Media Superstars

CHICAGO – The American Association of School Librarians (AASL) has opened nominations for its Social Media Superstars, which recognize outstanding social media users within the school library profession. These superstars enrich the profession and its work on behalf of students and school communities by sharing information, expertise, ideas, encouragement, dialog, and inspiration widely with stakeholders via a variety of social media channels.

In 2019, recognition will be awarded in eight categories: Advocacy Ambassador, Curriculum Champion, Leadership Luminary, Program Pioneer, Reader Leader, Sensational Student Voice, Social Justice Defender, and Tech Troubadour. Any member of the school library community can nominate their peers for recognition. Nominations must be received by 11:59 p.m. Pacific on Fri., February 1, 2019. The Social Media Recognition Committee will review the nominations and announce finalists in each category on February 22. From February 22 through March 15, the public will be invited to post endorsements.

Superstars will be announced April 1, 2019, during a special School Library Month presentation. Recipients will also be recognized during the 2019 91´«Ã½ Annual Conference in Washington, DC.
