Newest PLA 'Quick Reads' book offers guidance for library service to teenage parents

CHICAGO -- The Public Library Association (PLA) has added a new publication to its collection of that are available free of charge to all PLA personal members in good standing. is the seventh installment in the Association’s “Quick Reads for Busy Librarians” series. The Quick Reads series features publications under 100 pages in length and covering topics deemed essential to modern public library workers.

The newest Quick Reads publication was written by Clair Larkin, a library services specialist at the San Antonio (Texas) Public Library. Drawing upon the principles of PLA's Every Child Ready to Read® @ your library® program, Teaching Early Literacy to Teen Parents contains practical, tried, and tested advice for any public library to get started or to improve teen parent programming. It is currently available for download (PDF, 71 pages) from the . To access this free publication, you must first log into 91ý.org to confirm your current PLA personal membership. You are welcome to make one printed copy, though we ask that you do not post the file online or share it electronically in any way.
