Presenters invited to explore topics and engage attendees during AASL National Conference

CHICAGO – The American Association of School Librarians (AASL) invites proposals for concurrent sessions to be presented during its National Conference & Exhibition taking place Nov. 14-16, 2019, in Louisville, Kentucky. Complete proposals must be submitted by Mon., Dec. 3, 2018, and final decisions will be announced on or before March 1, 2019.
AASL seeks proposals for 60-minute-long concurrent sessions to be held on Friday, Nov. 15, and Saturday, Nov. 16. Proposals should include up to three learning objectives and address how the session supports the AASL “National School Library Standards for Learners, School Librarians, and School Libraries.” Proposals should relate to one of the new content strands – Inquire, Include, Collaborate, Curate, Explore, and Engage – taken from the Shared Foundations found within the Standards Frameworks. The AASL National Conference Program Review Committee will conduct a blind review of all proposals evaluating for clarity, originality, and timeliness. Consideration will be given to submissions that incorporate one or more of these characteristics:
- Demonstrates innovative thinking and/or new perspectives;
- Presents strategies for effectively implementing new ideas and technology;
- Incorporates at least one active hands-on learning exercise;
- Includes activities that will incorporate various learning styles;
- Demonstrates how learning outcomes will be achieved.
- Facilitates a deeper understanding of the new AASL Standards
