LLAMA Webinar Helps You Create an Emotionally Intelligent Organization

91´«Ã½

Much has been written about the importance of individuals becoming more emotionally intelligent, especially in the workplace. Today’s library leaders and supervisors are expected to have at least some familiarity with emotional intelligence as it pertains to them personally. But what about the library as a whole? Emotionally intelligent leaders can do little if their organization is not also emotionally intelligent. The Library Leadership and Management Association (LLAMA) will present “Setting the Emotional Tone: Managing Emotional Culture in the Library,” on Wed., August 8, at 1:30 – 3:00 pm (Central time). This webinar will show you how to influence the emotional tone of your library not only by setting an example, but also by communicating directly with librarians and staff to create an environment conducive to the healthy exchange of ideas and open expression of feelings.

Attendees will be able to:

• Understand the basics of emotional intelligence and define its four elements

• State the importance of increased organizational emotional intelligence

• Understand how to set emotional tone for an organization

• Develop strategies to lead your organization towards increased emotional intelligence

Emotional intelligence is one of LLAMA’s 14 foundational leadership competencies.
