New iteration—Adult Programming: Planning for Success eCourse

Chicago—91´«Ã½ Publishing eLearning Solutions announces a new iteration of our popular eCourse, . Amy Alessio will serve as the instructor for a 3-week facilitated eCourse starting on Monday, September 10, 2018.

Learn how to build programs that draw adult users into your library from one of the most well-known programming experts—Amy Alessio! Adults are a very important—but often overlooked—category of patrons. They generally make up a large proportion of library patrons.

In this 3-week eCourse, Alessio will help you plan a calendar year of events for adults in several different age groups. You’ll learn about the best programming resources for everything from planning to marketing. Throughout the course, you will design one detailed program plus provide ideas for future programs and contribute to discussion with other participants. You’ll walk away from this course with the knowledge and inspiration you need to create successful programs for your adult patrons.

Week One:

  • Introduction to types of programming
  • Overview of resources, including funding resources
  • Popular trends
  • Planning calendar for the year

Week Two:

  • Navigating issues in programming: space, time, budget and staff constraints
  • Programming for adult subgroups: by age and interests
  • Planning for all day events

Week Three:

  • Creative marketing, including:
    • How to utilize library social media accounts for program marketing
    • Reworking and refreshing long running programs
    • Programming by themes

About the Instructor

Amy Alessio enjoyed the input of teens for over nineteen years as an award-winning teen and readers’ advisory librarian at the Schaumburg Township District Library in Illinois. She is a co-author of A Year of Programs for Millennials (91´«Ã½ Editions 2015), Club Programs for Teens (91´«Ã½ Editions, 2015), and 50+ Fandom Programs: Planning Festivals and Events for Tweens, Teens, and Adults (91´«Ã½ Editions, 2017), in addition to other reference titles.
