Open Access Publishing in the Humanities: An online discussion

CHICAGO—The Reference and User Services Association’s (RUSA) History Section will co-host a free online discussion on the topic, “Open Access Publishing in the Humanities” from 3-4 pm EST on Wednesday, April 25th. The discussion will take place via the Zoom system hosted by H-Net and will also be recorded and archived for future use.
Industry experts Dr. Seth Denbo, Director of Scholarly Communication and Digital Initiatives at the American Historical Association and Ms. Sarah McKee, Senior Associate Director for Publishing at the Bill and Carol Fox Center for Humanistic Inquiry, Emory University will lead the discussion. Briefly outlining the most critical issues today for open access in the humanities and what their respective institutions are doing in that field, participants will be able to ask questions and provide comments on any related topic. Additional inquiries may include partnerships between humanities subject librarians and faculty regarding OA publishing, challenges to the development of OA in the humanities, successful initiatives, etc.
This is the first free online discussion jointly sponsored by the RUSA History Section and H-HistBibl. The goals of this discussion are: 1. To bring faculty and history/humanities librarians together to discuss relevant issues pertaining to scholarship and instruction and 2. To encourage faculty and librarians to explore opportunities for collaboration.
Pre-registration is required at by April 22nd. The number of participants will be capped at 100.
