Authors Anand Giridharadas and Priya Parker to speak at PLA Member Breakfast in June

CHICAGO -- The Public Library Association (PLA) is proud to welcome Anand Giridharadas and Priya Parker as the featured speakers for its at the in New Orleans. PLA President Pam Sandlian Smith will host the Breakfast during which PLA will also recognize the recipients of its . The Breakfast will take place Saturday, June 23, 8:30 -10:00 a.m., in Grand Ballroom D of the Hilton New Orleans Riverside.

Anand Giridharadas is the author of The True American (soon to be a feature film), India Calling, and the forthcoming Winners Take All, which will be published in August 2018. He was a foreign correspondent and columnist for The New York Times from 2005 to 2016, and has also written for The Atlantic, The New Yorker, and The New Republic. He is a former McKinsey analyst, an Aspen Institute fellow, a visiting scholar at New York University, an on-air political analyst for NBC News, and has spoken on the main stage of TED. His writing has been honored by the Society of Publishers in Asia, the Poynter Fellowship at Yale, and the New York Public Library’s Helen Bernstein Award.

Priya Parker is the founder of Thrive Labs, at which she helps activists, elected officials, corporate executives, educators, and philanthropists create transformative gatherings. Trained in the field of conflict resolution, Parker has worked on race relations on American college campuses and on peace processes in the Arab world, southern Africa, and India. She studied organizational design at M.I.T., public policy at the Harvard Kennedy School, and political and social thought at the University of Virginia. Her new book, The Art of Gathering: How We Meet and Why It Matters, will be published May 2018. Giridharadas and Parker are married and reside in Brooklyn, N.Y.
