ALCTS News is on the Move

CHICAGO—Today the Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) is launching the new on WordPress, moving from the previous content management system Drupal. With this migration, ALCTS News hopes to make content easier to find and to allow readers to engage with the information they want and need.
“We’ve redesigned ALCTS News to create a more immersive reading experience on screens of all sizes,” says Chelcie Juliet Rowell, ALCTS News editor. “The new design makes reading more immersive, exploring more intuitive, and sharing easier. Article pages aren’t cluttered with a sidebar, menus stacked upon menus, and buttons galore. Instead, the primary focus is the content itself.”
In addition, ALCTS News article pages are more streamlined and a mobile-responsive interface has been adopted. From an individual article, readers can find other related articles of interest on the same topic. Readers can also peruse items from the same section by clicking on the category for Features, Announcements, Columns or Conference News. By selecting the tag below an article, readers can find additional articles about the same ALCTS member group or community.
One of the most significant new features of the site is how easy it is to start a conversation. Users can leave a comment without creating a username and password for the ALCTS News site, and articles can be shared across various social media channels like Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn using share buttons.
In the coming weeks, the ALCTS office staff will work to move the rest of the ALCTS News Drupal pages over to the new site. We also plan to archive issues of to the .
