New Year, New Standards, New Learning

CHICAGO – As the New Year begins, the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) encourages its members to keep their professional development resolution and visit AASL eCOLLAB – their one-stop shop for on-demand learning. Members can access eCOLLAB at using their already established AASL/91´«Ã½ website ID and password.

With the addition of more than seventy concurrent sessions recorded at the AASL National Conference & Exhibition in Phoenix, eCOLLAB now contains 400 opportunities for professional learning and continues to grow as monthly webinars on AASL’s new are presented and archived.

Recently archived standards sessions include:

  • It All Fits Together: The New National Standards for Learners, School Librarians, and School Libraries – AASL Standards editorial board and implementation task force chairs Marcia Mardis and Mary Keeling take viewers on a guided tour of the standards development process and give in-depth introductions to the National School Library Standards (NSLS) integrated content designed to support and enhance learners' experiences, school librarians' practice, and the alignment between school libraries and learning goals.
  • The AASL Standards Web Portal: Accessing Standards and Support Resources - Standards editorial board member Kathy Mansfield gives a guided tour of AASL’s Standards web portal, which contains everything school librarians need to access the new standards and a wealth of support resources. Mansfield highlights infographics, videos, links to articles and many more resources for the new standards.
