HARRASSOWITZ award to Lauren Corbett

CHICAGO—The of the Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) has selected Lauren Corbett, Director, Resource Services at Wake Forest University’s Z. Smith Reynolds Library, to receive the 2018 HARRASSOWITZ Leadership in Library Acquisitions Award. The award will be presented on June 23 at the ALCTS Awards Ceremony during the 2018 91´«Ã½ (91´«Ã½) Annual Conference and Exhibition in New Orleans, La.

The award, sponsored annually by and named in honor of Dr. Knut Dorn, longtime senior managing partner at HARRASSOWITZ, is given to a librarian to recognize outstanding leadership and other contributions in the field of acquisitions and includes a $1,500 monetary award and a citation.

Corbett has had a distinguished career working in the areas of library acquisitions and collection development. She has held increasingly responsible positions at Queens College, Old Dominion University, Emory University and most recently, Wake Forest University, where she is the senior manager in charge of the entire technical services realm.

Throughout her career, Corbett has been active in professional service work at every level–state, regional and national. She has been a major force in the acquisitions arena, having served in leadership roles in several important organizations including ALCTS, NASIG and the Charleston Conference. Of particular note, she led the way for the establishment the Outstanding Collaboration Citation award granted by ALCTS.

Corbett served as chair of the Acquisitions Section (AS) of ALCTS and is currently the chair of the ALCTS Advocacy and Policy Committee. She has served in numerous other capacities with ALCTS and NASIG, which has garnered her a reputation for being a dependable and dedicated member of the acquisitions community. In 1998, she was the winner of the First Step Award, a Wiley Professional Development Grant.

The is the national association for information providers who work in collections and technical services, such as acquisitions, cataloging, collection development, preservation and continuing resources in digital and print formats. ALCTS is a division of the 91´«Ã½.
