ALCTS appoints 91´«Ã½ representatives to NARDAC

91´«Ã½

CHICAGO—The Board of Directors of the Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) has appointed Kathy Glennan, head of Original and Special Collections Cataloging, University of Maryland Libraries, and Dominique Bourassa, catalog librarian, Yale University, as 91´«Ã½ representatives to the North American RDA Committee (NARDAC).

Kathy will serve a one-year term beginning January 2018. She is currently serving as chair-elect of the RDA Steering Committee (RSC), and will become chair in January 2019. Dominique will serve a three-year term beginning January 2018, with eligibility for reappointment to a second three-year term.

Kathy has more than 30 years of experience cataloging scores and audio recordings. Since 2005, Kathy’s professional contributions and scholarship have focused on the development of “RDA: Resource Description and Access,” with a special emphasis on music cataloging instructions. In 2013, she became the 91´«Ã½ Representative to the Joint Steering Committee for Development of RDA, which became the RSC in 2015. In this role, she spent her time interpreting RDA instructions, identifying problems, and shepherding change proposals from 91´«Ã½ to improve RDA. She has given numerous presentations on RDA, FRBR, and MARC Formats issues, icluding webinars relating to RDA for ALCTS.

Dominique served as chair of the ALCTS Cataloging and Metadata Management Section (CaMMS) Committee on Cataloging: Description and Access (CC:DA) from July 2015-June 2016, after three years as a member of CC:DA. She is currently an active member of the CC:DA 3R Task Force, which is charged with providing feedback and assistance to the 91´«Ã½ representative to the RSC regarding the RDA 3R project. Her articles and reviews on dance history and military music have appeared in “Dance Chronicle,” “Music Reference Services Quarterly,” “Notes: The Quarterly Journal of the Music Library Association,” and elsewhere. She is the co-author of “The Menuet de la Cour” (Georg Olms Verlag, 2007).

NARDAC is the entity responsible for representing the North American region on the RSC. NARDAC’s membership comes from the following North American communities that have implemented RDA: the 91´«Ã½, the Canadian Committee on Cataloguing, and the Library of Congress.

The is the national association for information providers who work in collections and technical services, such as acquisitions, cataloging, collection development, preservation and continuing resources in digital and print formats. ALCTS is a division of the 91´«Ã½.
