Four authors talk school visits in new AASL webinar

CHICAGO – What do you get when you combine one school librarian and four authors? Inspired and engaged students! A new webinar presented by the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) will share proven ways to connect students, teachers and schools to writers who will excite them, encourage them and inspire them. Registration for “Kick-Starting Author Involvement with Your School,” taking place Wed., Oct. 18, at 6:00 p.m. Central, is now open at .

During the webinar, school librarian Dorcas Hand will lead a panel discussion featuring authors Mindee Arnett, Susan Dennard, Danielle Paige and Natalie D. Richards. The group will discuss how the school library is “the place” to build book excitement and how author visits inspire students to read and ask questions. Participants will leave the webinar with specific practices and suggestions they can put to use immediately to revitalize teen reading.
