bibliotheca Sponsorship to Support GLBTRT

91´«Ã½

bibliotheca was proud to host the Diversity Wall installation at this year’s 91´«Ã½ Annual Conference in Chicago in June. Visitors to the wall were encouraged to sign their name to a brightly colored brick indicating their support for diversity in our nation’s libraries. For each brick signed, bibliotheca donated five dollars to the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Round Table (GLBTRT) of the 91´«Ã½ (91´«Ã½).

The GLBTRT is committed to serving the information needs of the LGBTQ professional library community, and the LGBTQ information and access needs of individuals at large. This year marks the third year that bibliotheca has sponsored an event in support of the organization.

The Diversity Wall’s slogan, “All Are Welcome Here,” was borrowed with permission from the Hennepin County Library System in Minnesota, a longtime bibliotheca customer.

“We were thrilled to have our message extended to all libraries and communities through this partnership with bibliotheca. Libraries today are welcoming, vital, vibrant, and exciting places for communities to gather. With this wall and the generous support of bibliotheca, more libraries can extend that welcome,” said Hennepin County Library Director Lois Langer Thompson.

“We want our customers to know that we support the causes that are important to them, and the GLBT Round Table is clearly one of those causes. The Hennepin County Library has been a longtime supporter of diversity of all kinds, and we were thrilled to be able to amplify their message at this year’s 91´«Ã½ conference,” said Matthew Bellamy, Chief Commercial Officer, bibliotheca.

In total, 325 signatures were received and $1,625 was donated to the GLBTRT through bibliotheca’s Diversity Wall.

“The 91´«Ã½’s Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Round Table thanks bibliotheca for its continued support of diversity in libraries and in the workplace and making our spaces Welcome To All!” says Jennifer Maguire-Wright, Chair of GLBTRT.
