CHICAGO -- Public Libraries, the official magazine of the Public Library Association, has announced the winners of its 2017 .

First prize of $500 was awarded to Joel A. Nichols from the Free Library of Philadelphia (Pa.) for his feature article , which was published in the January/February 2016 issue of Public Libraries.

Honorable mention prize of $300 was awarded to Tatiana Weinstein from the Lisle Library District in Lisle, Ill., for her feature article , which was published in the July/August 2016 issue.

The articles were evaluated and first-prize winner was chosen by members of the Public Libraries Advisory Subcommittee. The honorable mention award was voted upon by Public Libraries' readers through a survey made available on social media.
