April 14 last day to submit session proposals for 2018 PLA Conference

CHICAGO — The deadline for prospective speakers to submit session proposals for the Public Library Association is almost here. The 2018 Conference, to be held March 20-24 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, will challenge its attendees to Imagine the Possibilities. Preconference and program proposals must be submitted before 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on Friday, April 14, 2017.
Offered biennially, the PLA Conference has a reputation for excellence. The conference includes more than 100 top-quality continuing education programs, numerous social events and networking opportunities and a bustling exhibits hall. PLA welcomes all proposals designed to be educational, thought-provoking and engaging for public library professionals.
PLA 2018 will feature the following two session formats:
- Preconference sessions are in-depth educational sessions for 50-100 attendees. They can be a half-day or full-day in length. Preconferences typically require an additional registration fee for attendees.
- Program sessions are 60-minute sessions that can feature a single speaker or a panel of speakers, or can be a guided audience discussion or activity. Attendance can vary from 50 to 500 people.
If selected, PLA Conference speakers will be expected to register for and attend the conference, respond to information requests in a timely manner, and submit session handouts electronically prior to the event. To get started, go to .
