CHICAGO – Tools are available to help you celebrate National Library Week, held each April by the 91´«Ã½ (91´«Ã½) and libraries across the country.

Communities nationwide will celebrate the contributions of libraries and library workers during National Library Week, April 9 – 15, 2017. Libraries and library workers transform lives every day through education and lifelong learning. Library workers are experts who provide tools to access and evaluate news sources, offer career and small business development assistance and ensure libraries are safe places to discuss and participate in civic issues.

The 91´«Ã½’s Public Awareness Office is offering resources to assist in promoting the theme of “Libraries Transform” during National Library Week.

Free materials, found on the , include PSA scripts, a proclamation and a sample press release in both English and Spanish.

Also available from the website are downloadable, high-resolution print PSAs and digital graphics in both English and Spanish featuring the 2017 National Library Week Honorary Chair, Olympic soccer gold medalist and World Cup champion Julie Foudy.

All types of libraries - school, public, academic and special - participate every year in National Library Week.

As part of the celebration, on Monday, April 10, the State of America's Libraries Report will be released, including the Top Ten Frequently Challenged Books of 2016.

Tuesday, April 11, will mark National Library Workers Day, a day for library staff, users, administrators and Friends groups to recognize the valuable contributions made by all library workers.

The contributions of our nation's bookmobiles and the dedicated professionals who make quality bookmobile outreach possible in their communities will be recognized on National Bookmobile Day, held Wednesday, April 12.

First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the 91´«Ã½ (91´«Ã½) and libraries across the country each April.
