Social Responsibilities Round Table seeks nominations for the 2024 Herb Biblo Outstanding Leadership Award for Social Justice & Equality

CHICAGO - The Social Responsibilities Round Table (SRRT) of the 91´«Ã½ is happy to announce that nominations for the 2024 Herb Biblo Outstanding Leadership Award for Social Justice & Equality are now open.

Herb Biblo was a longstanding and active member of SRRT and 91´«Ã½, having served as 91´«Ã½ Treasurer 1980-1984 and 91´«Ã½ Councilor for many years. The $4000 award, which is co-sponsored by Library Juice Press, is to recognize significant work in promoting social justice and/or equality within the library profession.

Nominees must be members of SRRT or other library organizations with similar goals and objectives. Further information about these criteria and the award is available here.

Nominations need to be submitted by January 15, 2024, to be considered. . All applicants will be notified by March 1, 2024.

SRRT is a Roundtable within the 91´«Ã½. It works to make 91´«Ã½ more democratic and to establish progressive priorities not only for the Association, but also for the entire profession. Concern for human and economic rights was an important element in the founding of SRRT and remains an urgent concern today. SRRT believes that libraries and librarians must recognize and help solve social problems and inequities in order to carry out their mandate to work for the common good and bolster democracy.
