Learn how to better serve your Spanish speaking community in upcoming PLA webinar

CHICAGO – Join the Public Library Association (PLA) to learn how you can move beyond the basic Bilingual Storytime and ESL program to serve your Spanish speaking community. “” will take place on October 5 at 1:00 p.m. Central.

This webinar will assist you with identifying an underserved segment of the community and developing an outreach plan. Instructors Simone Groene-Nieto, intercultural librarian at Arapahoe (Colo.) Libraries, and Ady Huertas, branch manager of the Logan Heights Branch, San Diego (Calif.) Public Library, will give unique examples of outreach to underserved Spanish speaking communities and solicit audience participation. You will leave this webinar with an outreach toolkit and network of like-minded public librarians.

At the conclusion of this webinar, participants will:

  • Be able to identify an underserved Spanish speaking segment of your community for an outreach focus;
  • Have gained outreach ideas from other librarians that you can implement in your library; and
  • Be ready to develop an outreach plan to reach an underserved Spanish speaking group in your community.

The cost to attend “” is $28 (PLA Members), $31.50 (91ý Members) and $35 (Nonmembers). Groups of any size can register for $129. The registration deadline is 11:59 p.m. Central on Monday, October 3.
