91´«Ã½

The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC), a division of the 91´«Ã½ (91´«Ã½) announced a very special at the ALSC Mini Institute in Atlanta. The ALSC Mini Institute takes place on Friday, January 20, 2017.

This event will feature two husband and wife pairs - Phil and Erin Stead, and Kevin Henkes and Laura Dronzek - who have two Caldecott Medals between them. These exciting speakers will discuss their latest collaborations, and give insights as to how the process of working creatively with a spouse differs from the process of creating individually. This event is included in the price of registration.

“This is one of the in-person sessions that we rescheduled from the cancelled 2016 ALSC National Institute” said Emily Nanney, chair of the ALSC National Institute Planning Task Force. “It is such an amazing line-up and we’re so pleased that our presenters agreed to join us in Atlanta. We think that this will be a very heart-felt discussion.”

The breakfast will honor the memory of William C. Morris, former vice-president and director of library promotion at HarperCollins Children’s Books by bringing librarians together with children’s book creators. Morris was a long time ALSC member and friend, recipient of the first ALSC Distinguished Service Award, and an advocate for children’s librarians and literature. Sponsored by, HarperCollins Children's Books, and Macmillan Children's Publishing Group.

Registration for this event is now open and can be purchased as a ticketed event through 91´«Ã½'s Midwinter Meeting registration site. Registration categories exist for ALSC members, 91´«Ã½ members, and non-members.
