Chicago—91´«Ã½ Editions announces a new facilitated eCourse, . Paul Signorelli will serve as the instructor for a 4-week facilitated eCourse starting on July 11, 2016.

Learning outcomes

The eCourse is designed to help library staff members understand how to apply learning theory and best practices in face-to-face and online learning to the advantage of digital learners and the users they serve.

After participating in this eCourse, you will:

  • Use assessment to determine whether training is the proper approach to respond to an apparent learning gap
  • Design and develop online learning opportunities that meet the needs of learners you serve
  • Effectively prepare for and facilitate online learning opportunities
  • Evaluate the concrete results produced by online learning offerings so future offerings can be improved, if needed

Join us for this four-week hands-on approach to creating synchronous and asynchronous learning moments that will have your users clamoring for more.

This eCourse is designed to help you understand how to build upon the best of your face-to-face training efforts, so your participants will want to immediately apply the skills learned through your online events. You will be encouraged throughout the eCourse to develop a digital learning opportunity to be used with staff and/or library users.

eCourse outline

Our four weeks together will focus on the following aspects of online training with an eye toward using complementary practices online and onsite:

  • Week 1: General overview of the current practices and innovations in online learning and a focus on assessing learning needs as we examine ways to answer the question “Is training the answer to the problem we’re facing?”
  • Week 2: Designing and developing engaging online events
  • Week 3: Preparing for and facilitating effective online learning opportunities synchronously and asynchronously
  • Week 4: Assessing how well your participants applied what they learned, and how to review your assessments to improve upon future offerings

About the Instructor

Paul Signorelli, co-author of with Lori Reed, is a San Francisco-based writer, trainer, instructional designer, and consultant who fosters and documents innovations in learning. Having earned an MLIS through the University of North Texas (with an emphasis on online learning), he remains active in the 91´«Ã½, the New Media Consortium (educational technology), and the Association for Talent Development (formerly the American Society for Training & Development).
