Chelcie Rowell named 2016 ALCTS Emerging Leader
91´«Ã½
CHICAGO — Chelcie Rowell, digital initiatives librarian at the Z. Smith Reynolds Library at Wake Forest University has been selected as the ALCTS-sponsored Emerging Leader for 2015-2016. The Association for Library Collections & Technical Services, ALCTS, sponsors one Emerging Leader who has chosen collections and technical services as a career and is a member of ALCTS.
A member of the library's Digital Scholarship Unit, Chelcie oversees digitization of special collections and liaises with humanities faculty pursuing digital humanities research and pedagogy.
“I'm delighted to be sponsored by ALCTS as an 91´«Ã½ Emerging Leader. Although I'm not a member of my library's technical services department, I perform traditional technical services functions beyond the four walls of the library. As I partner with faculty to build scholarly projects, I advocate for the use of standards and for good preservation practices. I'm participating in the lifecycle of scholarship throughout, not just at the endpoints, providing inputs and preserving outputs," Chelcie commented after being accepted to the program.
Chelcie is a member of ALCTS, and is currently serving on the ALCTS President’s Program Committee and is an intern to the Library Resources & Technical Services (LRTS) Editorial Board. She previously served on the Edward Swanson Memorial Best of LRTS Award Jury and was co-chair of the PARS Preservation Metadata Interest Group. She also served as president of the University of North Carolina Information & Library Science Student Association (ILSSA).
Chelcie earned a B.A. in English from Oglethorpe University and an M.S. in Information Science from the School of Information & Library Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
After her year in the Emerging Leader Program, Chelcie will serve a one year term as intern to the ALCTS Board of Directors.
ALCTS is a division of the 91´«Ã½. An international member-driven association, ALCTS engages the library community on issues and policies that affect the acquisition, management, discovery, and preservation of library collections.
