Learn about finding the right balance in controversial topics in children’s literature in upcoming IFRT/GLBTRT webinar

CHICAGO — Join the Intellectual Freedom Round Table (IFRT) and the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Round Table (GLBTRT) for an upcoming webinar on how librarians can balance open access, accurate classification and ease of use for all families without discrimination as they include books featuring diverse perspectives. “” will take place at 1pm Central on Wednesday, Nov. 18.
Carolyn Caywood, retired manager of the Bayside Area Library in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and president of the Norfolk/South Hampton Roads chapter of PFLAG, and Peter D. Coyl, district manager with the Dallas Public Library, will discuss access to children’s books and resources for library staff on selecting controversial materials. This hour-long webinar will present a variety of perspectives and scenarios highlighting the challenges of developing applicable in individual libraries.
Registration is $20 for 91´«Ã½ Members, $25 for non-members, and $120 for students; registration is free for IFRT and GLBTRT members.
