Sipe elected ALCTS President for 2016-2017

CHICAGO —Vicki Sipe, catalog librarian, Albin O. Kuhn Library and Gallery, University of Maryland, Baltimore County, has been elected the 2016-2017 President of the Association for Library Collections and Technical Services (ALCTS).

She previously held positions at the National Cancer Institute-Frederick and Costabile Associates. Sipe holds an M.L.S. degree from University of Maryland, and a B.A. in History from the University of Minnesota.

Sipe currently serves as chair of the ALCTS Budget and Finance Committee. She has also served on MARBI, which was superseded by the current ALCTS/LITA Metadata Standards Committee. Sipe is an active cataloging trainer for ALCTS, OLAC, VRA, PCC and others. She is being honored this year with an ALCTS Presidential Citation for bringing the highly successful Fundamentals of Cataloging online course to fruition.

Maria Davidson-DePalma Collins, head of acquisitions and discovery, North Carolina State University Libraries, was elected to a three-year term as director-at-large to the ALCTS Board of Directors.

Elected as Section Chairs for 2016-2017 were: Acquisitions, Sally Gibson, Illinois State University; Cataloging and Metadata Management, Shana McDanold, Georgetown University; Collection Management, Beth Bernhardt, University of North Carolina, Greensboro; Continuing Resources, Kevin Furniss; and Preservation and Reformatting, Kristen Kern, Portland State University.

ALCTS thanks all the candidates who stood for election as well as all the members who voted. ALCTS continues to thrive and grow because of our dedicated members willing to serve whether elected or volunteer.
