Webinar discusses successful initiatives in library services for people who are incarcerated

CHICAGO — “” a new webinar hosted by the . This webinar is relevant to librarians that serve incarcerated youth and incarcerated adults. The webinar will focus on the work of both the public library and that of the state prisons. Participants will gain an understanding of the differences and similarities between the two. Discussion will demonstrate how both institutions face challenges internally, as well as with special populations. This webinar will provide a framework of best practices in delivering services and programs to incarcerated youth and adults.

This webinar is geared to librarians serving incarcerated adults and youth and those who are interested in serving adults/youth. The topic will focus on serving incarcerated youth from the perspective of the public library going into the space where teens are incarcerated and from the perspective of the prison librarians serving in their own space where incarcerated people are. The two institutions have different experiences as well as similarities that will be focused on
