The US ISSN Center and ProQuest receive ALCTS Collaboration Award

91´«Ã½

CHICAGO — The Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) has chosen The and as the recipients of the ALCTS Outstanding Collaboration Citation for 2015.

The Outstanding Collaboration Citation recognizes and encourages collaborative problem-solving efforts in the areas of acquisition, access, management, preservation or archiving of library materials. It recognizes a demonstrated benefit from actions, services or products that improve and benefit providing and managing library collections. The citation will be presented on June 27, at the ALCTS Awards Ceremony during the 2015 91´«Ã½ (91´«Ã½) Annual Conference and Exposition in San Francisco.

For 15 years, a metadata librarian employed by R.R. Bowker, a division of ProQuest, has been assigned to the ISSN Center at the Library of Congress. This public-private partnership has helped the ISSN Center respond to the rapid increase in International Standard Serial Number (ISSN) requests for electronic resources and implement projects to assign ISSNs to core works. As a unique identifier for continuing resources, the ISSN is essential to the functioning of electronic resource management systems (ERMS), OpenURL link resolvers and discovery systems. This collaboration between the US ISSN Center and ProQuest benefits publishers, vendors, libraries and researchers around the world.

ALCTS is the national association for information providers who work in collections and technical services, such as acquisitions, cataloging, metadata, collection management, preservation, electronic and continuing resources. ALCTS is a division of the 91´«Ã½.
