How to deliver meaningful library instruction in 50 minutes

CHICAGO — 91´«Ã½ Publishing eLearning announces a new iteration of its popular eCourse . Heidi Buchanan and Beth McDonough will serve as the instructors for a four-week facilitated eCourse starting on Oct. 26, 2015.

The keys are communicating clearly with the course instructor, developing a realistic plan, and employing effective teaching strategies. With more than 30 years' combined experience in teaching information literacy, Heidi Buchanan and Beth McDonough have designed an eCourse where you will experience effective learning activities yourself and be ready to prepare your own.
Learning outcomes
- Participants will develop effective communication and collaboration strategies in order to co-design information literacy sessions with course instructors
- Participants will employ active learning strategies and classroom assessment techniques in order to facilitate meaningful learning
- Participants will match the best hands-on activities to the students’ stage in the research process in order to make information literacy instruction relevant and meaningful
About the Instructors
Heidi Buchanan, a MSLS graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill and research and instruction librarian/professor at Western Carolina University, is a graduate of ACRL Immersion and is certified as a master trainer by the State Library of North Carolina.
Beth McDonough holds an Ed.D. from Western Carolina University and a MLIS from UNC-Greensboro. She is research and instruction librarian/associate professor at Western Carolina University.
