CHICAGO — 91´«Ã½ TechSource announces an exciting new workshop, with Frederick Stielow. This workshop will last 90 minutes and take place at 2:30 p.m. Eastern on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015.
Drawing from previous classroom and research information services models, Frederick Stielow will discuss the vital skills and implementation approaches that will help persuade your faculty and administrators to get on board with bringing your library into the online classroom.
- developing curriculum-wide course guides;
- prioritizing librarian-enabled service and community-building skills over collections;
- presenting the library’s value and how it can save students money on educational resources;
- developing a Web-conscious awareness for new tools and open Web resources;
- navigating the sensitivities, politics and bureaucracy of an academic environment.
About the Instructor
Frederick Stielow recently retired as head of American Public University System’s Classroom/ Research Information Services (CRIS). He is currently a U.S. Commissioner to UNESCO and is adjunct faculty at University of Rhode Island and Galilee Institute in Israel. Stielow previously worked as director of the Walter Reuther Labor Library at Wayne State University, Mid-Hudson Public Library System and the Amistad Research Center at Tulane University. He has written more than 100 scholarly articles and 14 books, most recently "Reinventing the Library for Online Education" (91´«Ã½ Editions, 2014). In 2013 he was honored with the ACHE Award for Creative Use of Technology and he was named the 2014 Routledge Distance Learning Librarianship Conference Sponsorship Award winner.
