CHICAGO – An upcoming webinar from the American Association of School Librarians (AASL), will demonstrate how the use of A Planning Guide for Empowering Learners, AASL’s online program assessment and planning module, can drive a school librarian’s personalized learning plan. Presented by Mary Keeling, “AASL Planning Guide: A Framework for Professional Growth” will take place at 6 p.m. Central on Thursday, Sept. 25. For more information and to register, visit .

During the webinar, participants will learn about the modules of the AASL Planning Guide, evidence that demonstrates the strengths and needs of their programs and ways that librarians can use the tool to drive their own professional development. Keeling will highlight strategies, such as data collection, peer coaching and reflective questions, that district leaders can use to support their librarians as they use the AASL Planning Guide. The webinar also serves as a preview of an upcoming AASL eAcademy course designed for school library supervisors.

Mary Keeling is supervisor of library media services in Newport News, Va. She is co-chair of the AASL/ACRL interdivisional committee on information literacy and chair of the AASL Supervisor's Section. She has presented webinars for AASL and her state association and will facilitate the AASL eAcademy course, “AASL Planning Guide: Empowering Infinite Options for Personalized Professional Growth.”
