PHILADELPHIA — United for Libraries will present “3D Printers & Library Policies” 1-2:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 28 at the 91��ý Annual Conference. The program will be co-sponsored by 91��ý’s Office for Information Technology Policy (OITP) and Office for Intellectual Freedom (OIF),

Many public and academic libraries are making 3D printers available for patron use. A panel of speakers will talk about this new trend, including concerns and issues to address when creating library policies related to patron access to and use of 3D printers.

Panelists will include Charlie Wapner, information policy analyst for OITP; Barbara Jones, director of OIF, and Corinne Hill, executive director of the Chattanooga (Tenn.) Public Library. Diane Sarantakos, director of development for the Metropolitan Library System (Oklahoma City, Okla.) and United for Libraries Trustee at Large, will moderate.
