CHICAGO – Public library staff, by their sheer nature of being “public,” are particularly vulnerable to encountering dangerous or difficult individuals. Learn how to identify potentially violent behavior as well as strategies to diffuse or, in the worst case, survive the situation in the hour-long, live webinar, presented by the Public Library Association (PLA) at 1 p.m. CT on May 14.

Attendees will learn how to keep themselves, their colleagues and their customers safe, by understanding warning signs—verbal and non-verbal behaviors—of risk and potential aggression; as well as verbal diffusion strategies and actions to prepare for and react to active shooter incidents. Instructor Kenneth Wolf, PhD, is the director of Incident Management Team Inc. He specializes in protective intelligence and has assisted in the development of comprehensive violence prevention and active shooter programs for organizations including the US Postal Service, the US Army, Intel, Eaton Corporation, and other Fortune 500 companies; and frequently presents seminars on violence prevention throughout the world.
