CHICAGO — The Association for Library Collections & Technical Services () has chosen The Alberta Library Online: The Alberta Group Catalogue as the recipient of the ALCTS Outstanding Collaboration Citation for 2014.

The Outstanding Collaboration Citation recognizes and encourages collaborative problem solving efforts in the areas of acquisition, access, management, preservation or archiving of library materials. It recognizes a demonstrated benefit from actions, services or products that improve and benefit providing and managing library collections. The citation will be presented on Saturday, June 28, at the ALCTS Awards Ceremony during the 2014 91´«Ã½ (91´«Ã½) Annual Conference in Las Vegas.

The Alberta Library (TAL) Online: The Alberta Group Catalogue is dedicated to strengthening library service across the province of Alberta, Canada, by supporting resource sharing among 49 public, academic and special libraries (members of the TAL consortium). The collaboration among the member libraries and their staff, along with vendors and the Albertan government, have created a substantial increase in online resources, as a supplement to the physical collections, for both rural and urban patrons. TAL Online’s development has created an increase in WorldCat and other OCLC resources for libraries across Alberta, enhancing collection development efforts, while aiding the sharing of resources. The award jury was impressed by TAL Online’s broadly successful collaborative effort in creating TAL Online, which now provides access to resources, not only to the 49 consortium libraries, but to more than 300 public, postsecondary and special libraries in Alberta.
