Free webinar to focus on library partnerships with TEDx to increase community participation
CHICAGO — 91´«Ã½ President Barbara Stripling’s Libraries Change Lives campaign continues with “Talk About Innovation! TEDx @ your library,” a free webinar highlighting the benefit of a partnership between libraries and the influential TEDX (Technology, Entertainment, Design) series of videos and presentations. This free webinar will take place at 2:00 p.m. CST on Thursday, February 13, 2014.
TEDx events are designed to engage community members through collaborative engagement, focusing on the concept of “ideas worth spreading.” Libraries hosting a TEDx event can serve as a catalyst to broaden the definition of a library, and support the move from “collection development to connection development.” This informative webinar will describe the way that libraries can utilize TEDx to create a more active learning environment, and create new ways to connect with the local community that both inspires and informs new ideas.
This webinar will feature presentations by Bill Derry, assistant director for Innovation and User Experience at the Westport (Conn.) Public Library, Meg Omainsky, school librarian at Henry M. Gunn High School in Palo Alto, Calif., and founder of the TEDxGunnHighSchool program, and Teri Skillman, outreach coordinator, University of Hawaii at Manoa Library, who has worked within the local community to present two TEDxManoa events focused on traditional Hawaiian knowledge in the new millennium.
Registration is mandatory, and limited to the first 100 participants who arrive in the virtual room. Visit the Adobe Connect event page to sign up today:
This webinar will be archived and accessible to 91´«Ã½ members.
